Necessity
Written by Hyena

I can't wait. I'm glancing at every clock in my proximity, counting the time left like a child counting days before Christmas. No, I'm not going to have a hot date. I'm just waiting until I get internet to my home.

It's not like I had to wait for long. I didn't even have to go anywhere and fill out some forms with bizarre questions. I'm just impatient. Internet, my connection tothe world, to the people. A necessity for us, information junkies.

I know some people frown upon it and say we should stop surfing the net and get our asses moving. They can whenever they want. Not me. Whether we like it or not, internet is an everyday reality and a necessity for some people. The global network has changed the society just like WC, railways, cars, airplanes and TV had before.

I can do without TV but I really can't see myself without the internet. I use it mainly for e-mails and other practical things - but besides that, I use it for sniffing around. Something triggers my curiosity and before I know it I'm surfing on the web, looking for some additional information.

I know it's nothing like some in-depth study. But it's still better than not caring at all. I've been very close to apathy and hopefully I will never get there again.

So help me internet.

Sins of my past

Sometimes I'm glad my short stories are not published in English. This one is from 13 years ago! You didn't miss much.

Modern Gods

Being a bureaucrat must be something very similar to being a God. Any god. Having a rubber stamp means you rule the world, you make decisions about other people's lives.

Bureaucrats kicked me out of Australia - although, frankly, if I stayed there, nothing terrible would have happened. On the contrary - the country would have benefitted from it.

Bureaucrats here in Slovakia decided I'm not a nurse and so I'm not allowed to work. Because I don't have a diploma. Most of nurses here don't have it but that's obviously OK.

Bureaucrats, Gods with their rubber stamp, will go home today and sleep peacefully. I won't be able to, staying up all night and trying to find out what to do now.

Well, thank you very much.

How I am: Grumpy

It's supposed to be spring but the weather is suspiciously autumnish. It makes me grumpy and everything bothers me.

I'm annoyed by department of education which apparently wants to wait the whole two-months period they have to process my application. Obviously they don't care that only thing I can do is sit at home because I can't work.

I'm annoyed by unbelievable incompetence of o2, musing over my order for two weeks. They still didn't answer my question posted 4 days ago. Why, I'm just a costumer, no need to care.

I'm pissed off by election circus in Hungary, pre-election circus in Slovakia and a mass hystery in Poland. Thank God Czechs and Austrians mind their own business.

I'm annoyed by people who let me out of mind and it's pretty awkward to remind them of myself when obviously they don't give a shit about me.

And I'm pissed off royally because I've been waiting for more than six months for things to get better. They don't.

Moving and moving...

This doesn't have to concern you - I'm only announcing another moving, my previous project which had ended two years ago, is going to be moved from its own site to the archive here.

And, yes, it was only in Slovak so as I was saying - nothing of concern. :-)
